Fermentation Workshop / Sauerkraut and Kefir

Product Description

**This class will be offered again in the future once all of the craziness from COVID-19 settles and restrictions allow it.

We love to ferment foods at The Little Herb Shoppe
Whether we dig into our jar of homemade sauerkraut, add some delicious kefir to add to our morning smoothie, or enjoy with blueberries and granola..
You may already know unpasteurized fermentations contain probiotics. But did you know, the sugar content of these foods are actually decreased, as are sugar cravings, with fermented foods. Fermented foods help us naturally and safely detoxify - while we're nourishing ourselves (that's usually the missing piece!) Come learn how the beneficial bacteria in our guts also affect our serotonin production - we're happier when we eat sauerkraut and a variety of fermented foods! Over the years, our culture (pun intended) has evolved from one of fear of the wild world and bacteria, to one of curiosity and a rewilding of our foods... I could go on and on, but we'd rather you just join us for some tea and a fun informative Workshop this Sunday.... making your own sauerkraut and kefir, both of which you'll bring home!

Want to improve or repair digestion, but you don't like sauerkraut? Lets see what we can do about that :)

Learn how healing, delicious & vital to your health true fermented foods can be. The process of fermenting foods to preserve them and to make them more digestible and more nutritious is a timeless tradition we should all know.

Our ever popular workshop ... Join us at The Little Herb Shoppe for this Fermentation Workshop. You will make our own Sourkraut to take home! We'll demonstrate how to make Kefir and you'll take home some of Kim's starter kefir grains and know just how to care for them. And of course, we'll discuss just what Fermentation is.

Come check out our several books on Fermentation at the shop.

Please join us for this fun, informative, hands- on workshop. Bring a cabbage head (preferably organic)... red or green. 2 quart mason jars with lids, 1 pint or smaller mason jar with lid, and an old t-shirt or apron.

Pre-registered $25.00. If space available, 'Day of' registration is $35.00

Money as issue? We have funds for the class for a couple folks if you would like to come
(you'll have to purchase your own materials though).
Drop us an email through our Contact Page for us to help you join us through funds from The Community Burdock Fund.
PS! Did you know sauerkraut is fabulous for your animals too!?
Come learn the why's and how's!

Hope to see you later today.

  1. Fermentation class 4 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Sep 2015

We were not sure what to expect when we signed up for the class but we did learn quite a bit. We had never made sauerkraut before and we learned that it was not that hard to do. It was a very interesting class and the people we met that evening was worth the drive up. We would definitely recommend the class to anyone interested in learning about fermentation.
