A  FATHER ~ SON  WEEKEND  RETREAT

"Everyone can be great, because every one can serve.   Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dear Fellow Fathers,

A warm welcome to not only join us on Friday, Sept. 7-9 (note tbc) for an autumn, weekend camping retreat for fathers and sons and/or godsons, “official” or otherwise… but to help form the retreat with us three. The retreat will be held 30 minutes north of St. Johnsbury, Vt.

Along with having time together with our sons, selves, and each other, what we have envisioned so far is:

A camp fire, cook-out, marshmallows and stories (TALL TALES) to gather us together Friday eve at 6 ish pm.

^ A service project together at the location where we would be staying, as an expression of our appreciation;

^ Outings in nature guided by Charlie, who has done the rounds over hill and dale and has much to share;

^ An evening of merriment led by David, with a focus on how humor can lighten the load of adolescence; prove to be a saving grace;

^ A plant walk on Sunday afternoon led by our hostess and "Den Mother" to discover the remarkable bounty that Mother Nature has laid out all around us.

^ A concluding circle introduced by Stuart, which is devoted to the promise of "Men's Liberation": How can men liberate themselves from those forces that would use/abuse them... in order to abuse/use our women. Given both the significance, and delicacy, of such a consideration, the circle would be adapted, modified, in order to best serve the sons. Since we're all in this together, unless any one has objections, the ladies in our lives are invited to join us for this concluding Sunday afternoon circle, in order to "listen in."

^ Your thoughts thereto, brothers …, including the idea of inviting our spouses, partners, daughters and any younger sons to join us for the "Den Mother's" Sunday afternoon plant walk, which would proceed the closing circle and be followed up (David?) by some final merriment.

A Heartfelt Welcome

David Pridemore, Stuart Weeks, Charlie Reed
